My 1:24 air fix Spitfire was a masterpiece. Although I would admit that the 1/3 scale fully operational model of the locomotive 'Britannia' rather eclipses my achievement. He had to make the tools to make the model locomotive, which he then used to transport my kids around his garden. Fucking impressive!
But I had sex instead.
I won.
I had kids who could his locomotive.
I wish I could do that.
I bet he wishes the same.

I started again about 5 years ago, now I make them for Hobbycraft and Revell in my spare time. And................ My latest venture is reproducing cars, vans and Bikes for people from the day.
They give me photos and I make eg
Their first ever car or bike exactly as it was, right down to the rust and stickers.

Ever heard of Google? - it's some fancy Interweb thingy for apparently answering questions that only odd people have an interest in . also useful for others that are normal...swt

You post-96 Airfixers woudn't know about the likes of "Duck Egg Green" and "Gun Metal Grey".
They've clearly been removed from the Airfix set list, along with the Swastika, in a push towards political correctness. Possibly something to do with Sky, too.
Duck Egg Blue?? FFS!!

There used to be a hardware shop called Lamberts on the corner of Brisbane Rd and Ley St in Ilford, the owner closed the hardware shop and started selling model kits - he was driving a Rolls Royce within a couple of years!!

Yeah on the tail, and less often in the fuselage behind the cockpit.
When I was young though I mainly made US fighters that could be easily painted in just silver! What a slacker...

Not done any in ages due to time more than anything but I see it as every Englishman's duty to build at least one model Spitfire in his life.It should be made law.
